Abstract Preoperative fasting should balance between ensuring patient{u2019}s safety during anesthesia and decreasing patient{u2019}s discomfort and hypoglycemia. Current guidelines for pediatrics fasting follow the 6-4-2 time regimen for infant formula, breast feeding and clear fluids respectively. Now, researchers are trying to minimize these time limits for each of the food components. Ultrasound is one of the most reliable and safe investigatory tools for detection of gastric emptying. It was used in many studies in adult cases but not well applied in pediatric cases investigations for gastric emptying. Our study was designed to compare between the effect of supine and semi-setting positions on gastric emptying by using ultrasound. This study was conducted in elective surgical wards in pediatrics Abo Elreesh hospital between April 2018 and October 2018 after approval of the ethics committee and taking written consents from candidates{u2019} parents |
