Abstract

Background: SLAC and SNAC wrist are two of the most common patterns of degenerative wrist arthritis which is treated by bicolumnar fusion, four corner arthrodesis, lunocapitate arthrodesis and three corner arthrodesis with different implant and different techniques. Aim: Detecting results of bicolumnar fusion as a surgical treatment for SNAC and SLAC wrist specifically stage II and III. Methods: We identified 10 patients with SNAC wrist who underwent bicolumnar fusion from Sep 2017 to Sep 2018. ROM and grip strength were measured. Pain and functional assessment was done using visual analogue score, quick disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder, and Hand questionnaire and mayo wrist score. Results: The mean patients{u2019} age was 36.1 years, while the mean follow up time was 8 months with 6 months minimum in all patients. At final follow up, the average flexion was 35{u00B0}±6.24, average extension was 49{u00B0}±7.38, average radial deviation 6{u00B0}±3.94, average ulnar deviation 20{u00B0}±5.77. The mean grip strength increased to 68%±7.15 from normal side. Average mean DASH was 14.31±11.5. Mean VAS was 1±0.94. Mayo wrist score mean was 72±5.37, showing eight satisfactory and two good. All our patient return to their regular work. Conclusion: We believe that bicolumnar fusion is a reliable surgical treatment for SNAC and SLAC wrist
