Abstract

Background: The last decade has witnessed the discovery of a mutual relationship between inflammation and FGF23. FGF23 is recognized as an important offender in CKD patients. Beside its recognized role in vascular calcification, FGF23 was found to be significantly associated with different inflammatory markers, left ventricular hypertrophy, and increased mortality. SLE is an autoimmune disease characterized by a profound inflammatory status. Left ventricular hypertrophy and chronic kidney disease are frequently encountered in SLE patients. Objective: The aim of the study was to look for fibroblast growth factor blood level in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) with and without lupus nephritis looking for its possible impact on the inflammatory and cardiovascular manifestations encountered in this disease
