Abstract

Background: Cerebral palsy is the most common developmental disorder associated with lifelong motor impairment and disability in children. Cerebral palsy registry appears to be a proper method for answering questions regarding the prevalence and features of the disorder among Egyptian children. Aim: To establish a registry of cerebral palsy in Menoufia Governorate. Subjects: One Hundred and fifty children with cerebral palsy of both genders with age ranged from birth to 18 years participated in this study. They were selected from hospitals and private centers in Menoufia Governorate. Methods: Gross Motor Function Classification System, Gross Motor Function measure, Manual Ability Classification System and Viking Speech Scale were used for assessment Results: The results revealed that the boy/ girl ratio was 1.2/1. Spastic diplegic Cerebral Palsy was the most common sub type representing 25.3 %. Moreover, the spastic quadriplegic sub type represented 18%. According to the Gross Motor Function Classification System and Viking Speech Scale, level V and IV had the highest percentage respectively
