Abstract

Background: Work related musculoskeletal injuries are more common among Egyptian physiotherapists with the upper limb is the second most common area of disorders and the highest percentage of complain from shoulder pain. Purpose: this study was conducted to identify the significant predictors of shoulder impingement among physiotherapists which may provide information about possible prevention and intervention strategies. Subjects and methods: forty participants aging 21:35 years with one side affected, were divided into two groups (injured and non-injured) depends on the affected side then they were assessed bilaterally for pectoralis minor tightness, shoulder girdle muscles isometric strength and scapular posture asymmetry in five positions S1 (neutral), S2 (abduction 45{uF0B0} ), S3 (abduction 90{uF0B0}), S4 (abduction 45{uF0B0} with weight) and S5 (abduction 90{uF0B0} with weight). Results: Regression analysis was used and indicated that all variables were not significant predictors for shoulder impingement among Egyptian physiotherapists
