Abstract Aim: This study was carried out to evaluate the effect of chlorhexidine (CHX) and galardin on dentin bond strength durability of single-step self-etch Single Bond Universal Adhesive system under some clinical simulating conditions (simulated intrapulpal pressure and storage in artificial saliva at 37oC), after 24 hours, three months and six months storage. Methodology: A total of 36 premolars were used, divided into two main groups according to the dentin pretreatment used; in the first group, CHX was applied prior to the restorative procedures; in the second group, galardin was applied prior to the restorative procedures. After resin composite application, each of the two groups was subdivided into three subgroups according to the tested storage periods; either for 24 hours, three or six months. Specimens were sectioned to obtain sticks of (0.9±0.01mm2). Twenty four similar sticks of each subgroup were selected for microtensile bond strength testing. Each stick was fixed to a specially designed attachment and stressed in tension using universal Lloyd testing machine at a cross-head speed of 0.5mm/minute until failure. Microtensile bond strength values were recorded and statistically analyzed. Modes of failure were determined using scanning electron microscope and its frequency was expressed as percentage value for each subgroup |
