Abstract
HAI has a significant and largely avoidable economic impact at both the patient and population levels, including out-of-pocket costs to patients and costs incurred through lost productivity due to morbidity and mortality (Storr et al, 2017). The human and financial costs of treating surgical site infections (SSIs) are increasing.
