Abstract Background :The purpose of this study is to evaluate the diagnostic performance of Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in differentiating between benign and malignant thyroid nodules. It was conducted on thirty five patients presented with thyroid nodules that undewent thyroid ultrasound and fine needle aspiration cytology pathology. This study showed the role of apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values and magnetic resonance T1 and T2 signal intensity ratio (SIR) in differentiation between benign and malignant thyroid nodules. Material and methods : 35 patients were included in retrospective study (28 females and 7 males ), their ages vary from (12 years to 75 years) with mean age of 48.65. All patients were referred to the Radiology Department, National Cancer Institute, Cairo University in the time period from July 2016 to August 2018 for assessment of thyroid gland enlargement by MRI all of them underwent ultrasound examination and fine needle aspiration cytology |
