Abstract

The present study was carried out in fish experiments department, regional center for food and feed (RCFF), Agricultural research center, Giza, Egypt. Two experiments were set up in this study. Experiment I, was to evaluate the methodology for protein concentration and decrease fiber content of DDGS, by using alkaline ethanol extraction method, which gave the extraction yield (45%). and hence significantly improved the protein content from 26.5% to 44.00% and fiber content from 10% to 3.2% in conventional DDGS. The modified product had a higher protein level and lower level of fiber than the conventional DDGS and could be marketed as high protein product (HPDDGS). Experiment II. was conducted to evaluate the nutritional value of corn distillers dried grains with soluble (DDGS) and a high protein corn distillers dried grains product (HPDDGS), (which was product by alkaline ethanol extraction method),with lysine supplementation on growth performance, feed utilization, and chemical composition of the whole fish body of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). Seven experimental diets were formulated; Control (Diet 1) did not contain DDGS and HPDDGS, (Diet2 - Diet4) to replace DDGS at the rate of 15, 30, and 45% instead of soybean meal and yellow corn. (Diet5 - Diet7) to replace HPDDGS with lysine supplementation at the rate of 15, 30, and 45% instead of soybean meal. All experimental diets were isonitrogenus (30% crude protein) and isocaloric (430 kcal /100 g diet). The seven diets were fed to 7 Tilapia fingerling groups with initial weight of 2.25 g/ fish. Each group consisted of 3 aquaria. The experiment duration was 12 weeks and all fish were fed at a rate of 4% of fish body weight daily, Divided into 5 meals
