Abstract

Introduction: This randomized clinical trial was designed to weigh up regenerative endodontics for necrotic immature permanent anterior teeth using photo-activated oral disinfection (PAD) versus triple antibiotic paste (TAP) in terms of clinical success (absence of post-operative pain, sinus or swelling) and radiographic success (healing of periapical radiolucency or change in root length, root thickness, or apical diameter). Methods: Forty necrotic young permeant anterior teeth due to trauma in thirty seven patients age ranged from 8 to 13 years were randomly allocated to either the PAD or TAP group. Follow-up appointments with clinical and radiographic inspection were arranged at 3, 6, 9 and 12 months. Result: 100% clinical success as complete absence of adverse clinical signs and symptoms at 12 months follow up period. Also, the radiographic success presented no statistical significant difference between the two groups in terms of healing of periapical lesion, increase in root length, increase in root dentin thickness, decrease in apical diameter and mean bone density. Conclusions: Regenerative endodontic procedure of necrotic immature teeth using TAP and PAD can achieve successful clinical and radiographic results
