Abstract

Postoperative hypoxia is a common sequelae of major abdominal procedures with increased morbidity and mortality in addition to longer stay in hospital and higher health care costs; so early Prediction of postoperative hypoxemia would help in risk stratification, preoperative preparation, anesthetic and surgical planning, various predictors for postoperative hypoxemia during major abdominal operations have been reported including: high body mass index, high sedation and low preoperative oxygen fraction (arterial partial pressure of oxygen/fraction of inspired oxygen)
