Abstract

The aim of my research on these ostraca was 1.to establish the nature of the texts, 2.to study the different aspects of the two types of hieratic used literary script for religious and literary texts and administrative script for documentary texts - and 3.to compare the palaeography of the hieratic writing in the ostraca with that of other documents from the same period found in e.g. Deir el-Medina, the Valley of Kings, the Valley of Queens and the Ramesseum. The main results of my study can be summarized as follows- several texts definitely belong to the corpus of the so-called Deir el-Medina documents- some texts provide interesting additional information on religious subjects; - the study of the palaeography has shown that there are several parallels with handwritings known from Deir el-Medina and also the so-called Ramesseum school. Although we do not know exactly where the ostraca from Mond{u2019}s excavations were found, it is clear that some belong to the Deir el-Medina corpus and others were written by scribes active in the region of the Sheikh Abd-el-Qurna tombs who were trained in the traditions learned at Deir el-Medina and in the Ramesseum School.
