Abstract

Multidrug resistant pseudomonas is one of the rapidly spreading bacteria causing infections with serious outcomes due to limited therapeutic options. Rapid spread of multidrug resistant bacteria (MDR) has become an emerging threat and a matter of concern worldwide. Our work aimed to screen for multi-drug resistance in 123 Pseudomonas isolates, and to detect the MDR Pseudomonas isolates up to the species level. Then, we evaluated the antimicrobial susceptibility patterns of MDR Pseudomonas to colistin and doripenem. The prevalence of MDR Pseudomonas in this study was 40.6%. Among different samples, 50% of MDR Pseudomonas isolates were retrieved from wound swabs, followed by 28% from sputum and 22% from urine. In this study, 98% of the included MDR Pseudomonas isolates were susceptible to colistin. As for doripenem, 58% of the isolates were sensitive, and 40% were resistant
