Abstract

In the Gaza strip, built-up lands expansion have reached critical level due to speed in population growth and height demand for new houses especially since the establishment of the Palestinian national authority (PNA) in 1994, as a result of oslo agreement. In this context, more agricultural and arable lands have been transformed to built-up areas. Thus, monitoring and modeling this expansion is fundamental task for sustainable management of scarcity available resources and considered vital for long-term urban planning. The primary objective of this research is to predict the future expansion of built-up lands within the Gaza strip during the next ten years (2025) as well the next twenty years (2036). Another objective is to quantify and investigate the characteristics of that growth (1992-2014) using the landsat satellite images of 1992, 2003 and 2014
