Abstract This research studies the shear behavior of self-compacting high strength concrete beams with openings. The beams were designed with low shear strength and high flexural strength to ensure shear failure. A number of beams were prepared and tested, only one of them without openings and the others with only one opening in the shear span. The distance of the opening from support is variable. All beams were simply supported and loaded by two point loads. The methods of strengthening are adding extra stirrups or adding diagonal bars around the opening. Applied load, cracking load, crack pattern, mid span deflection are studied |
