المستخلص

Amniotic fluid is important for the maintenance of fetal well-being; therefore, oligohydramnios can have multiple impacts on the prognosis of the pregnancy. In some cases, there are no evident fetal or maternal causes, and the condition is called idiopathic oligohydramnios. The aim of our study was to validate maternal intravenous hydration therapy as a means for improvement of idiopathic oligohydramnios in the third trimester of pregnancyWe conducted a study on 75 pregnancies complicated by idiopathic oligohydramnios within the age group 20-35 years at gestational age 32-36 weeks, for whom amniotic fluid index and Doppler were initially measured. Oligohydramnios was diagnosed using the amniotic fluid index (AFI; < 6 cm). Subjects involved underwent intravenous infusion of 2000 mL of glucose 5% alternating with lactated ringer over a period of twelve hours. Twelve hours later, the amniotic fluid index (AFI) and Doppler were repeated. We considered the AFI and Doppler values to compare the effectiveness of the therapy.CONCLUSION Our data show that in pregnancies complicated by idiopathic oligohydramnios, intravenous hydration therapy significantly improves the quantity of amniotic fluid
