Abstract
The research studies the relation between intermodal railway station and surrounding areas. It clarifies the impact of these stations on creating more livable and sustainable communities that depends on integrated public transportation and non motorized transportation more than cars. It also assume that promoting transit stations is considered as an un-traditional solution to problems results from the un-planned integration between centralized activities in metropolitan cities and transportation modes that provide accessibility to these activities. While designing these stations is considered a complex issue that involve different fields, the research aims at reaching a clear comprehensive guidelines on different levels to help decision makers, urban planners, urban designers and architects on designing and redeveloping intermodal railway stations
