Abstract

Numerous districts in Alexandria Governorate have experienced an increase in subterranean termite infestations over the past ten years. No previous authoritative documentation of this information existed, and no study or report was published that
highlighted the rapid spread of termites inside Alexandria Governorate. Therefore, we were
eager to process some of raw data registered in the Control Unit of the Ministry of
Agriculture in Alexandria Governorate, in order to help in some further studies based on these
data.
Distribution of termite infestation in Alexandria Governorate
The total number of termite infestation reports in 2019
Data in (Table 1) and (Fig. 1) indicated that the total number of reports of
termite infestation in Alexandria Governorate was 418 reports in 2019. Wasat district
represented the first rank in terms of the number of complaints about 183 reports
(43.8% of the total reports) followed by Sharq district which recoded 114 reports
(27.3 % of the total reports). Montazah, Gharb, and El-Gomrok districts recorded 53,
32, and 19 reports (12.7%, 7.7%, and 4.5%), respectively.
The total number of termite infestation reports in 2020
Results in (Table 2) and (Fig. 2) showed that the total number of reports of
infestation by termites in 2020 was about 424 reports. Wasat district recorded 155
reports (36.6% of the total reports) followed by the Sharq district 117 (27.6% of the
total reports). Montazah district, Gharb, and others (Al Agamy, Al-Amerya, and Borg
Al-Arab), recorded 29, 37, and 64 reports (15.1%, 8.7%, and 6.8%), respectively.
The total number of termite infestation reports in 2021
Data in (Table 3) and (Fig. 3) represent the total number of reports of termite
infestation in Alexandria Governorate in 2021. They were 353 reports, Wasat district
ranked first (156 reports (44.2%) followed by Sharq district, where the number of
reports was 95 reports (26.9%). Al Montazah, Gharb, and Others are the lowest
numbers in reports, they recorded 40, 21, and 29 reports (11.3%, 8.2%, and 5.9%),
respectively.
The total average number of termite infestations through the months of (2019-
2021):
Data in (Table 4) and (Fig. 4.) showed that the total average number of termite
infestation reports in Alexandria Governorate during (2019-2021) was 398 reports.
The highest months were July, September, and October since the reports were 53,35,
and 52, respectively. The lowest months were February and March (15 and 16
reports) respectively. (Fig. 5) showed that the total average number of infestations in
Wasat district was the largest number of reports (165 reports) followed by Sharq
district which recorded 109 reports. The lowest number of termite infestation reports
was in El-Gomrok district (18 reports). Through July, October and September were
27, 24, and 23 with percentages of 16.4%, 14.5%, and 13.9%, respectively. The total
average number of reports within the Wasat district, was 165 reports during the

period ((2019-2021), while the total average number of infestations within the Sharq
district during those months was about 13, 13, and 12 reports for each of them,
respectively, representing about 11.9%, 11.9%, 11% of the total average number of reports within the Sharq neighborhood During the average period (2019-2021).
