Abstract

The incidence of cancer worldwide is expected to increase by the rise in lifestyle-related cancers due to economic shifts around the world. Lifestyle factors are considered causes of cancer. CRC is one of the most common malignant neoplasms. It is ranked 2nd to 4th in the world in terms of cancer incidence, depending on area, kind of cancer, and gender. CRC exhibits an increasing trend in terms of morbidity and deaths year after year. Many factors, including genetic and environmental ones, may have a role in the development of this condition. Carcinogenesis is a three-stage process that includes the stages of start, promotion, and progression. As a result, there are many phases for prevention and intervention in the multistage sequence of events. Chemoprevention is a revolutionary strategy to cancer control that entails using certain natural products or synthetic chemical agents to reverse, reduce, or prevent premalignancy before it progresses to invasive cancer.
The current study was designed to evaluate the potential prophylactic and/or therapeutic effect of acetonic extract of clove (Oleanolic acid) and hydro ethanolic extract of Cynara cardunculus (β-amyrin) 7,12-dimethylbenz[a]anthracene (DMBA)-induced rat model. 100 male adult albino rats and weighing 120±20 gm, were used in the experimental investigation of this study. The animals were obtained from the Central Animal House of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Zagazig University.
