Abstract There was a highly statistical difference between different study groups as regards presence of anemia, p value <0.001, where anemia was much more prevalent among CKD than at Dialysis group. In anemia group (n=99) significant positive correlation between Ret (Hb) and TIBC (r=196 P” " ~ " ”0.05) and significant negative correlation between Ret (Hb) and TSAT (r=-331 , P>0.001) and non-significant correlation between STR and different iron profile. . In non anaemic group (n=38) a significant positive correlation and a significant negative correlation between Ret (Hb) and serum iron, TIBC and serum ferritin respectively. Also a significant negative and positive correlation between STR and TIBC and TSAT respectively. A significant predictive value of both Ret (Hb) and STR for diagnosis of iron deficiency anaemia in dialysis patients at a cut off level of 28.50 & 12.10 respectively. The accuracy of the measurement of Ret (Hb) for detection of anemia was 52% and 39% among CKD and dialysis groups respectively while the accuracy of STFR was 60% ad 45% among CKD and dialysis groups respectively. |
