Abstract The main purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between the financial literacy of the owners of small and micro-enterprises and their financial well-being. Besides, it has studied the role of financial inclusion and financial planning in this relationship. Owners of small and micro-enterprises in the Damietta governorate represent the population of this study. A questionnaire was used as a tool to collect data from the respondents. The study used structural equation modeling (SEM) for analyzing and testing the mediation effect of financial planning and inclusion in the relationship between financial literacy and financial well-being. Results of the study identified a significant relationship between financial literacy and financial well-being. Also, the study asserted the mediation effect of financial inclusion in the relationship between financial literacy and financial well-being. Moreover, the study indicated that financial planning partially mediates the influence of financial literacy on financial well-being through liability planning. Finally, the study presents suggestions for expanding the application of financial inclusion as a development strategy. The study also recommends developing educational programs to improve the positive financial behaviors of individuals, especially in planning their financial matters. |
