Abstract

Introduction: Hepatocellular carcinoma is a worldwide health problem. DAAs are recently the standard care of chronic hepatitis C infection. Many recent studies showed surprising rates of de novo and recurrent HCC after DAAs treatment whether SVR was achieved or not. Occult hepatitis B virus infection (OBI) frequently occurs in HCC patients associated with chronic
hepatitis C (CHC) infection. This study aims to determine the prevalence and
impact of OBI on tumor characteristics and HCC treatment outcome regarding
recurrence and survival in patients with de novo HCV-related HCC after
treatment with DAAs.
