Abstract

Corrugated web girders represent a new structural system that emerged lately for steel I-girders especially used in bridges. Many researches were carried out on studying the behavior of girders with corrugated steel web and their possible failure modes. These researches proved that the girder{u2019}s flanges provide the flexural strength of the girder with no contribution from the corrugated web which provides the girder{u2019}s shear capacity. The purpose of this study is to investigate the behavior of steel I-beams with corrugated steel webs. The study highlight the current available data on modeling, analysis and design of steel I-beams with corrugated steel webs. Numerical model is built up using ANSYS finite element program to simulate the behavior of steel I-beams with corrugated webs from first application of loads till final failure. Parametric study on this kind of beams is performed in order to scrutinize all the factors affecting the beam{u2019}s behavior and failure, also to check the validity of using the current provision of the Egyptian Code of Practice for Steel Construction Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) ECP 205-2008 for steel I-beams with steel corrugated webs
