Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the role of enrichment activities based on songs in developing primary pupils’ EFL phonological awareness skills. A pre - test has been administered to examine pupils’ knowledge and use of phonological awareness skills. Data driven from the pre - test have confirmed pupils{u2019} weakness in the phonological awareness skills. Thus the researcher made a checklist of the phonological awareness skills types that are appropriate to the 3rd year of the primary stage to be taught. A quasi experimental study has been conducted including two groups: an experimental group and a control one. The results of the post - test have confirmed the hypotheses that a strong linear correlation exists between the enrichment activities based on songs and the phonological awareness skills. The positive findings of the study proved the effectiveness of the ”Enrichment activities based on songs to develop primary pupils’ EFL Phonological Awareness Skills
