Oral cancer holds the eighth position in the cancer incidence ranking worldwide, the frequency of squamous cell carcinoma about 1.9% of all oral lesions among Egyptians. The distribution of oral cancer in Egypt according to sites are tongue lesions occurring in 34.6%, carcinoma of the gingival and alveolar mucosa 25% and carcinoma of lips 17.3 %. Less frequently affected sites were buccal mucosa 11.9%, floor of the mouth 6.4% and the palate 4.7%.Five-year survival rate is about 76% to 80% if diagnosis is performed in stage 1 and 2. Late diagnosis in stage 3 and 4 can decrease this value to 41% and 9% respectively. Therefore, early diagnosis goes a long way in the successful and complete treatment. Early diagnosis includes comprehensive evaluation of the patient by careful taking of patient history, physical examination and biopsy. Imaging studies as CT, MRI can also help in diagnosis and treatment planning. Salivary diagnostic approaches have been developed to monitor oral diseases such as oral cancer. Salivary diagnostics are non-invasive, inexpensive, safe and easily collected and stored. One of salivary tumor marker for OSCC was salivary VEGF that was associated with the malignant potential of the tumor cells. VEGF is required by rapidly proliferating cells In this study twenty eight patients were selected from National Cancer Institute. Patients included in the study were divided into two groups; group 1 included eighteen patients diagnosed as having oral squamous cell carcinoma (as a OSCC group) and group 2 which included ten individuals free from any systemic disease (as control group)
