Abstract

Sketches and drawings are vital and important methods humans use to simplify, communicate, and describe complex ideas. They have been used in vast number of fields e.g., engineering, business, medicine, and chemistry. Many designers/architects from different areas use sketches on daily basis to describe different processes, various systems, and their sub-components. Since computers have become popular in mid-seventies of the twenties century, many Computer-Aided Design (CAD) systems have been built. Normally in these CAD systems, designers use drag-and-DROP feature to create the target designs. A more intuitive approach is using a tablet or pen input-device to naturally hand-sketch these designs and let the computer recognizes them interactively. This work proposes a new 2D online multi-domain sketch recognition framework for recognizing 2D high-level sketches. The proposed framework is powerful enough to naturally and intuitively recognize sketches from different domains. It is applied on two domains: the Graphical User Interface (GUI) domain and the circuits domain. The shapes are recognized using the topological and the syntactical information of each domain
