Abstract

Nano-crystalline ceria was synthesized using four different techniques. Four groups of study were considered as: The first group was involving study of the characterization, particle size and particle morphology of the as prepared samples using XRD, TEM, BET, and AFM measurements. The aggregation performance was evaluated using DLS and Zeta potential. The second group is the study of the effect of annealing temperature (673, 873, 1073 and 1273K) on the prepared cerium oxide. The optical, magnetic and electrical properties of the samples annealed at different temperature have been examined and compared to the as prepared sample. The third group includes a study of the effect of cold plasma with varying exposure time, and plasma tube current and pressure on the UV absorbance of the prepared nano ceria. The fourth group studies the effect of the exposure of gamma rays doses (1, 2, 3, 4 and 5Gy) on the ceria structure and on the UV absorbance. The (Ce3+ / Ce4+) % is evaluated using XPS for all the groups of study
