Abstract In this thesis, we propose a number of improvements over the ATSR protocol. Firstly, we modify the equation proposed by ATSR authors for distance metric calculation in order to improve its sensitivity and scalability. Secondly, we study the impact of indirect information on performance metrics while incorporating its energy consumption overhead and the negative effect of the potential bad-mouthing attack into the results. Thirdly, we identified a new potential attack in which a malicious node drops DLL-ACK frames in order to cause useless retransmissions. We propose a new routing metric to detect the ACK-dropping attack. Fourthly, we discussed the detection time of malicious nodes in ATSR |
