المستخلص

Ninety patients with liver cirrhosis will be included in our study , they will be classified according to Child score into three groups group 1: 30 Child A score liver cirrhosis cases group 2 : 30 Child B score liver cirrhosis cases group 3: 30 Child C score liver cirrhosis cases And thirty normal healthy age and sex matched control group All patients were subjected to history taking, clinical examination, biochemical and hematological analysis in the form of complete blood count , AST, ALT, Bilirubin total and direct, serum albumin , Na , K, urea , creatinine, PT, PC , INR, serum cholinesterase , abdominal U/S and Calculation of both Child score and MELD score .Results : The level of serum cholinesterase is higher in control group than other three groups (child A , child B and child C ) ,the level of serum cholinesterase is higher in compensated liver cirrhosis than decompensated liver cirrhosis , the level of serum cholinesterase is higher in Child A more than Child B and Child C and the level of serum cholinesterase is higher in Child B more than Child C. Conclusion : Serum ChE is an excellent biomarker of cirrhosis . It shows good correlation with serum albumin, PT, INR and MELD score. Since it distinguishes decompensated cirrhosis from compensated cirrhosis well, low levels in cirrhosis may serve as a useful prognostic marker of advanced liver disease
