Abstract Aim: The aim of this study is to assess the use of anorganic bovine bone minerals only in horizontal ridge augmentation using modified cortical shell technique of atrophic mandibular ridges. Methodology 8 patients (ten surgical sites) were randomly chosen from outpatient clinic Implantology Department. They were treated with modified cortical shell technique and delayed implant placement after 6 months. The patients were assigned to be treated using 20 titanium implants. Results: There was a statistically significant increase in mean bucco-lingual bone width post-operatively at the crestal, middle and apical bone levels (P-value <0.001, Effect size = 0.808), (P-value <0.001, Effect size = 0.765) and (P-value = 0.002, Effect size = 0.228), respectively. As regards the overall change, there was a statistically significant increase in mean bucco-lingual bone width post-operatively (P-value <0.001, Effect size = 0.683). |
