Abstract Breast cancer is the most frequent cancer among women worldwide and about one- third of female breast cancers are diagnosed in patients aged older than 70 years. Diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer among the elderly may result in physical and emotional distress due to fear of recurrence, treatment side effects and feelings of social devaluation that adversely affect their quality of life. This study assessed the quality of life of elderly women with breast cancer who received chemotherapy at cancer institute –Sohag Governorate. Cross-sectional descriptive design was used. Purposive sample of 100 elderly women with breast cancer, all of them completed all cycles of chemotherapy 1-3 months at least from the last dose of chemotherapy. This study was conducted at outpatient clinics for cancer patients follow up at Sohag Cancer Institute. |
