Abstract The Thesis presents an analytical investigation of hollow steel section to hollow steel section moment connections in low to medium rise moment resisting frame. Three-dimensional nonlinear finite element analysis have been performed for the hollow steel section to hollow steel section moment connection under cyclic loading. Several parameters have been examined: different beam profiles, reduced beam sections, stiffeners with different thicknesses, and built-up columns. Energy dissipation through the connections’ hysteretic behaviors has been analyzed. |
