Abstract

This thesis discusses the environmental situation of Carbon Dioxide emissions and the global coalition of combating climate change then a simple introduction about different pathways to sequester emitted Carbon Dioxide. It further proposes a SWOT analysis to select best pathways applicable in Egypt, two of them were adopted; biological sequestration and geological sequestration.
As far as biological sequestration using microalgae is concerned, two microalgal species were cultivated on a Carbon Dioxide source, the results for different Carbon Dioxide concentrations were plotted against growth rate, hence best concentration was further proposed for complete technical project in field 1, western desert with a simple economic study to help the decision maker.
For geologic sequestration, a geologic study was performed on north east depleted spot in FIELD 2 reservoir and found it’s highly recommended for Carbon Dioxide injection as enhanced gas recovery. Full calculations were performed and economic model was built.
