Abstract

This study classified into 2 experiments:
I. Pulmonary affection experiment: this experiment carried on (24) calves and these calves classified into control group (A) and represent (10) calves. On the other hand, (14) calves represent pulmonary affected group (B) and samples were taken from the previous group after treatment represent group (C).
II. Diarrhea experiment: this experiment carried on (24) calves and these calves classified into control group (D) and represent (10) calves. On the other hand, (14) calves represent diarrheic group (E) and samples were taken from the previous group after treatment represent group (F).
Whole blood samples were collected for hematological analysis including red blood cell count (RBCs 106/μl), hemoglobin concentration (Hb g/dl), packed cell volume (PCV %), mean corpuscular volume (MCV fl), mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH pg.), mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC g/dl), total leukocytic count (TLC 103/μl), neutrophils (NEUT 103/μl), lymphocytes (LYM 103/μl) and “eosinophil, basophiles and monocytes” (MID 103/μl).
Blood samples were collected without anticoagulant for separation of serum. Clear non-hemolysed sera were transferred into clean, dry, sterile vials. The serum samples were kept at -20 C ͦ until used.
The serum samples were collected for biochemical estimation including glucose, total protein (TP), albumin, globulin, aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), creatinine, sodium (Na+), chloride (Cl-), potassium (K+), total bilirubin, direct bilirubin, serum amyloid A (SAA), c-reactive protein (CRP), ceruloplasmin (Cp) and haptoglobin (Hp).
The results of this study summarized as following:
1. Pulmonary calves:
The hematological findings in our study showed that significant (p ≤ 0.01) decrease in the value of RBCs in group B than its value in group A and C. on the other hand, there was a slightly significant (p ≤ 0.01) reduction in the value of Hb in group B and C than its value in group A and its value is decreased in group C than in group B. Finally, there were no significant changes in the value of PCV between three groups. On the other hand, the MCV, MCH and MCHC mean values of in both pneumonic and treated groups (B+C), there were a significant (p ≤ 0.01) increase in the values of MCV and MCH in group (B) and significant (p ≤ 0.01) reduction in the values in group (C). while the values of MCHC were significant (p ≤ 0.01) decrease in both group (B+C) when compared with the control group (A). finally, the values of TLC, NEUT, LYM and MID in comparison with control group (A), group (B) showed significant (p ≤ 0.01) rise in the mean values of TLC, NEUT and MID and significant reduction in the mean values
