Abstract This study explores the crucial role of education in developing and solidifying citizenship. through the examination of two countries –where crisis of identity deepened in certain transformative periods- the thesis seeks to highlight the main factors behind successful citizenship education :in both Germany and South Africa , educational programs were introduced to construct new national identities , and political authority proved to be the most influential factor in this endeavor. A citizenship education model is suggested for Egypt at the end of the thesis , based on the findings from studying the German and south African cases . |
