Abstract

To assess the dental age using the modified demirjian{u2019}s method to verify the ongoing applicability of the method for estimation of chronological age in a group of Egyptian children. Dental age of 200 Egyptian children was estimated from digital panoramic records using the modified demirjian{u2019}s method. Each tooth was given a score from A to H based on the stage of maturation. Using the OnyxCeph 3{u2122}software, patient{u2019}s panoramic radiograph, birth date, gender and the A - H scores for the seven teeth were fed into to calculate the dental age for each child separately. Both chronological and dental ages for each child were compared with each other. The child’s chronological age is considered the gold standard. Regarding all age categories of the girls, there was no statistically significant difference between chronological and dental ages, however dental age showed higher mean values than chronological age in all age categories
