Abstract Background: Outcome of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) depends mainly on its early diagnosis. The performance of traditional biomarkers is not satisfactory. Osteopontin (OPN) is of potential importance Objective: This study aims to assess the diagnostic value of plasma OPN compared with alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) for the diagnosis of HCC .Conclusion: We found that plasma OPN is relatively comparative to AFP and can be used in diagnosis of HCC and in need to be applied in diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma also we found that OPN is superior to AFP in prediction of overall chronic liver disease(liver cirrhosis and fatty liver disease) |
