Abstract

Development aid has become one of the important factors for national development in developing countries due to its growing use and its significant political, social and economic impact on the recipient country. Egypt has practiced many development experiences since the early sixties. Egypt has received aid from major advanced countries around the world since it is considered strategically important in terms of its unique geographical location and political leverage in the Middle East. While Government of Egypt has made impressive progress in development, it continues face challenges with sustainable socio-economic development. Development issues for Egypt in broader and more diverse range now than ever as the country is entering into new phase of both social and economic development. Donors and recipients have made commitments to each other for progress on development and look for ways to enhance aid effectiveness. Decades of experience in development cooperation have shown that the impact on development is significantly improved when aid is well planned and orchestrated and delivery mechanisms are adequately designed
