Abstract The aim of this study is to assess the relationship between pre-induction dehydroepiandrosterone sulphate (DHEAS) levels and the success of labor induction in pregnant women at gestational age between 40-42 weeks. Results: Receiver operator characteristics (ROC) curves were constructed for DHEAS level, Bishop Score, we have found that DHEAS serum level was higher in those with successful induction than those with failed induction, there was a highly significant positive correlation between DHEAS serum level and the Bishop score, the higher level of DHEAS is related to higher Bishop Score. Conclusion: We have concluded that DHEAS level could be used to differentiate between successful and failed cases with a percentage of 95% sensitivity and specificity. Moreover, we have added another factor to the Bishop score that proved to be of statistical significance in prediction of success or failure of labor induction |
