Abstract

Infertility is one of the major health problems in life and approxi¬mately about 30% of these problems due to male factors; that play an important role in impair male reproductive capacity causing transient or permenant infertility. However; intake of natural antioxidants with vitamin E can protect sperm DNA from oxidative stress.
The present study was designed to evaluate the protective effect of vitamin E and selenium on adverse effects of bleomycin on male fertility.
Experimental design:
After one week of acclimatization, forty adult male albino rats were weighed and randomly allocated into 4 equal groups, each of 10 animals.
Control group: rats were received 0.5 ml distalled water for 60 days.
Bleomycin group: rats were received bleomycin at a dose of (1.5 IU/kg b.wt twice for three successive weeks) by intraperitoneal (I/P) adminis¬tration.
Vitamin E and bleomycin group: rats were received Vitamin E at dose of (100 mg/kg b.wt orally twice weekly for three successive weeks) by oral administration two hours before bleomycin administration.
