Abstract

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is considered as a challenging problematic issue among various types of carcinomas. Mechanisms of HCC progression varies including hepatitis, alcohol, non-alcoholic fatty liver diseases, genetic and epigenetics. The current search for exact molecular mechanism to develop HCC is still not fully achievable. Thus, our study put an emphasis on two genes that are involved in the miRNA biogenesis machinery genes (XPO5 and RAN). As we hypothesized that any aberration in those genes will cause crucial impact on miRNAs nuclear export and subsequent regulatory effects on whole genome expression including carcinogenic phenotype. One of the variants of two genes is XPO5*rs34324335 which represents missense located in p.Ser241Asn of the XPO5 protein in addition, the second locus RAN*rs14035 that represents 3′ UTR region on RAN gene, Fig.36.
