Abstract In this thesis, we have synthesized new heterocyclic compounds for industrial application and biological evaluations. The thesis is divided in to two parts as follow: Part I: Efficient co-sensitization of novel trimethoxybenzene-based dyes with N-719 for highly efficient dye-sensitized solar cells We have synthesized different trimethoxybenzene based heterocyclic compound AL1-5 for DSSCs application. Their chemical structures were confirmed by the different elemental and spectral analysis. Moreover, from their UV spectra, all dyes showed high molar extinction co-efficient which attributed to the incorporation of trimethoxybenzene moiety and cyanoacetanilides derivatives as strong acceptor moiety beside the superior donating power of the trimethoxybenzene. Further, DFT / TD-DFT studies was performed using Gaussian 09 to gain inside the molecular structure of the new dyes besides measuring HOMO / LUMO energy levels. Scheme 1 showed the synthetic pathway of five novel D-π-A configured metal free dyes AL1-5 possessing trimethoxybenzene moiety as a strong donating moiety. The target dyes AL1-5 were obtained in good yield. |
