Abstract

Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a disease of the progressive condition characterized by elevated pulmonary arterial pressures and pulmonary vascular resistance leading to right ventricular failure. The pulmonary vascular injury underlying PH occurs in an idiopathic form or in association with other disease states or exposures and is probably a final common response to environmental or disease-related inciting factors coupled with genetically determined susceptibilities. Many studies have shown that PH occurred frequently in patients with chronic kidney disease, especially in end-stage renal disease patients. However, few epidemiologic data are available to investigate the prevalence of PH prior to CKD The aim of this work was to study the prevalence of pulmonary hypertension in chronic kidney disease patients. The study was carried out on (30) CKD patients at chest department, Tanta University Hospitals and Air Forces Specialized Hospital. The duration of the study was 24 months starting from December 2020 to December 2022. Patients were divided into CKD patients with pulmonary hypertension (28 patients) (93.3 %) and 2 cases (6.7 %) of CKD patients without pulmonary hypertension.
