Abstract This study was aimed to investigate the prevalence of colibacillosis and salmonellosis in diarrheic lambs and goat-kids. A total of 275 diarrheic animals (190 lambs and 85 goat-kids) aged from one day up to six months from Al-Sharkia and Al-Ismailia provinces from various locations. Fecal swabs were collected from 275 diarrheic animals. Clinical and laboratory studies have been conducted to establish colibacillosis and salmonellosis in infected lambs and goat-kids. The present study showed the following result: The findings of clinical examination among diarrheic lambs and goat-kids showed variable clinical signs as variation in temperature ranged from abnormal to high level, different degree of dehydration, profound weakness, soiling of perineum and tail, with variety of degree of diarrhea from profuse watery to semi solid mucoid and occasionally be bloody with offensive odor and recumbency. |
