Abstract Upon the aim of this work, we tried to reveal a proper energy transducer for space applications. The electric, dielectric thermoelectric, magnetic and ferroelectric properties were investigated. According to a related literature survey, bismuth manganese oxide Bi2Mn4O10 and the two-phases composite Bi0.5Sr0.5MnO3 - Bi2Mn4O10 were prepared via mechano-chemical process (ball milling) and sol-gel respectively. High purity oxides of bismuth (Bi2O3) and manganese (MnO2) (Aldrich 99%) were mixed using a stainless-steel vertical ball mill attritor for different milling times (1h, 5h, 10h, 15h. 30h, 50h) then the samples were pressed into pellets with 12mm diameter and finally heat treated at 1073 K. The crystal structure was studied by XRD and TEM, the analysis confirmed the poly-crystallinity and the formation of the three phases; Bi2Mn4O10, -Bi12.8O19.2 and α-Mn2O3 but with different percentages at each milling time. |
