Abstract Hepatocellularcarcinoma (HCC) is the sixth most common cancer worldwide. In Egypt, it is the fourth most common cancer. The reason for increased incidence of HCC could be attributed to improve in screening programs and diagnostic tools, increasing the survival rate of cirrhotic patients, which increases the chance of developing HCC, and increasing the incidence and complications of hepatitis C virus (HCV), which is the most important risk factor in developing liver cancer, including HCC, in Egypt. Worldwide, HCC is the fourth most common cause of death from cancer, estimated to be responsible for nearly 9.1% of the total deaths in 2012 (746,000 deaths). In Egypt, it is the most common cause of mortality and morbidity related to cancer. The objective of this study was to evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of some parameters, including CD-14, TGF-β, miR-7, miR-10, miR-21, and some other biochemical parameters, as non-invasive markers of HCC. TO fulfill the target of the present study, a total of 80 chronic HCV patients were included. Samples were collected from the National Hepatology and Tropical Medicine Research Institute, and, 20 normal controls were enrolled |
