Abstract This research discusses the rate of avian chlamydiosis ducks. One hundred and twenty fecal swabs were collected from ducks of different ages, Samples were purified and injected into chicken embryo eggs via yolk sac method. Chlamydial inclusion bodies appeared as bright red cytoplasmic inclusions by Gimenez stain. Out of the 120 samples, 74 (61.6 %) were found to be positive and 46 (38.3 %) were negative. Ten pooled samples were tested by two PCR primers one of which was specific for detection of C. psittacia and the other was specific for C. gallenacia. PCR typing for the collected pooled samples reveled that 8/10 were found to be C. psittaci and non of them was found to be C. gallinacea. |
