Abstract Sexuality is a vital component of human life. Sexual behaviors and orientations vary and may be related to mental health. Food and sex are essential to species survival and have been rocking together for as long as they have kept all creatures great and small alive. Aphrodisiacs can be categorized according to their mode of action into 3 groups: by increasing libido, by increasing erection, and by increasing sexual pleasure. Most of aphrodisiac mythology comes from foods with symbolic colors or shapes, certain foods do contain properties that stimulate pleasure centers in the brain. Dietary intake of flavonoid-rich cocoa and chocolate include antioxidant properties, reduced blood pressure via the induction of NO-dependent vasodilation in men. Celery was known throughout history for its aphrodisiac qualities. It’s high in androstenol and androsterone. These two hormones are pheromones and are thought to play a role in human olfactory communication regarding sexual attraction. Foods rich in magnesium enhance sexual drive and ability. Several studies have shown the effects of magnesium on the production of testosterone. Asparagus has been reported to improve sexual performance through activating NO release, which could potentially improve arousal and erection. The aim of this study was to clarify the effect of food on male sexual activity in a sample of Egyptian men. This cross-sectional study was conducted on 222 married men having a regular sexual relation and eating different types of food attending at the clinics of Menoufia University Hospital. Summary 75 The results of the current study showed that: Weight was significantly increased men with moderate IIEF-5 score than normal, mild and mild to moderate IIEF-5 score. Also, all of men that with moderate IIEF-5 score their residence was rural with significant relation. There was significant relation between sexual erectile function IIEF-5 score with time to ejaculate and strength or force of ejaculation. There was significant relation between sexual erectile function IIEF-5 score with number of meals, coffee or tea, sugar and sweets (P<0.05). There was significant relation between sexual erectile function IIEF-5 score with vitamins supplements. As well as, (13.51%) of men take multi vitamins daily. There was significant relation between sexual erectile function IIEF-5 score with candy, honey, eggs and soybean products (P<0.001). 28.38% of men eat candy from 1 to 3 times a month. The increase intake of honey, eggs leading to increase in male sexual functions, while the increase intake of candy and soybean products leading to decrease in male sexual functions. There was significant relation between sexual erectile function IIEF-5 score with fast and fried food. 35.14% of men eat fast food once a week and (33.78%) eat fried food once a week |
