Abstract DN is a main microvascular complication of DM, most cases are asymptomatic. delayed the pathological manifestation of glomerular disease in diabetic patients will possibly reverse. Therefore, early diagnosis and intervention are crucial. Many patients with DN progress to CKD and ESRD (Mok et al., 2019). Angpt-2 has been reported to be involved in the development of T2DM and accelerates micro and macrovascular complications. However, whether serum Angpt-2 can predict rapid deterioration in renal function in patients with clinical DM has not been well-explored (Siddiqui et al., 2019). This study aimed at achieving a better quality of life for diabetic patients by early diagnosis of DN by assessing the differences in the serum Angpt-2 levels in Egyptian diabetic patients and apparently healthy control subjects. As well as, its correlations to kidney function and glycemic markers. This study was a descriptive, analytical cross-sectional study. A total sample of Eighty-four participants was recruited in this study and divided into three equal groups; group I: Patients with T2DM without albuminuria (n=28). group II: Patients with T2DM with albuminuria (n=28). group III: Apparently healthy people (n=28). Patients were recruited from outpatient diabetes and family clinic of the SuezCanal university hospital, Ismailia. Laboratory tests were performed at the Clinical Pathology department of the Suez Canal University Hospital, Ismailia. |
