Abstract Two experiments were conducted in this study on wheat grains of the Giza 171 variety. The first experiment was a laboratory experiment with a completely randomized design (CRD) with four replications. Its aim was to study the effect of different doses of phosphine (2, 4, and 6 tablets) at different exposure time (24, 48, and 72 hours) on quality and vitality traits, as well as to understand the best biochemical responses during different storage periods (without storage, 3 months, 6 months, and 9 months). The second experiment was a field experiment conducted during the 2022/2023 season at the Crop Department Farm, Faculty of Agriculture, Assiut University. It was designed as a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications to clarify the effect of phosphine treatments on the biological yield and grain yield. The main results, in general, indicate that storage of wheat grains for 3 months with phosphine treatment at a dose of 2 tablets/ton for an exposure time of 72 hours preserves the vitality and quality of the grains without affecting the internal components of the grains or the quantity of the yield obtained after planting those grains. |
